WHO SAYS "GOOD THINGS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES"? HERE'S A BIG ONE FOR THE WHISKY DRINKER WHO HAS EVERYTHING
Those clever people at Macallan know how to drum up interest in their
whisky. If you have a ton of money then this could be for you. Late
last year, a cabinet containing a Macallan collection went on sale at
Harrod's for £55,000 (approx US $107,500). Now this does seem rather
excessive and maybe takes deluxe packaging to extremes. However, the
cabinet was produced by master craftsman Viscount Linley, the nephew of
HM Queen Elizabeth and is a one-off piece for Macallan made from
English oak and burr oak.
The collection inside
includes six single malt vintages from the Fine & Rare collection:
1937, 1940, 1948, 1955, 1966 and 1970 as well as six bespoke crystal
LINLEY whisky tumblers, cigar humidor and a secret compartment which
has become a signature feature of LINLEY furniture.
As of this week this handsome piece, with all its contents, was still
on sale. So if you're favourite someone is a furniture and rare
whisky fan, this is the one to go for - if you have a very healthy bank
account.
