Dr. Scotch was attending medical school in Philadelphia when he first experienced scotch whisky. To this day he remembers the time he raised that first glass to his lips, the aroma and smooth taste: it was love at first sip.

Fortunately for his future patients, his budget limited his drinking nights and hence classes missed. But whenever he got an “A” on an exam (and there were many), there was positive reinforcement: a better-blended scotch. This served to both graduate Dr. Scotch near the top of his class and encourage his enjoyment of scotch.

Post medical school Dr. Scotch opened a practice in rural New England where there was plenty of ice, but not much to pour over it (blended or otherwise), so he took to traveling as often as he could.

After a few years he tired of all the ice in his driveway and his drinks, so the good doctor moved to Texas.

There, after more than three decades of enjoying Scotch and his wife's persistent persuasion to do something constructive with his passion, he started his website in February of 2003 to share his love of Scotch and meet other single malt enthusiasts.
