Having Alberta Straub (aka Miss Flighty) as one our community leaders will without question help us shake things up a little. A self-professed "whisky tourist," Ms. Flighty is one of the best-known celebrity bartenders in the San Francisco Bay Area and the northern California coast. She was the recipient of the SF Weekly Best Bartender award in 2004, and is mentioned in a number of ‘Best of San Francisco' guides.
In addition to being about the nicest person you could ever meet (you'll never find a better barkeep to spill ‘em to), Alberta has often been described as the "Alice Waters of Booze." She's been in the business of making sublime drinks for San Fran's well-spirited elite for more than 8 years. She is renown for her commitment to using only the freshest (and often homemade) ingredients, her own elixirs (such as homemade bitters and infused vodkas) and turning them into wildly sexy, exuberant drinks.
To help her evangelize the pleasures of enjoying a well made cocktail, and the ease with which almost anyone can make one (and proving she truly is leading life on the edge), Alberta hosts a weekly webcast called "Cocktails on the Fly" where in each episode Miss Flighty confirms her reputation as cocktail innovator, aperitif artist and a mixologist extraordinaire while teaching viewers to easily make new drinks and providing tricks and tips to impress friends.
